We’re happy to announce our next show coming up soon – mark your calendars:

At 8:00 on Friday, May 27th, the Outer Borough Brass Band will be opening for Joe Krown Trio feat. the legendary Walter “Wolfman” Washington, and drummer Russell Batiste Jr. at Sullivan Hall.

This is going to be a fun, funky night of New Orleans music here in NYC!

Joe Krown (Hammond B-3), Walter Wolfman Washington (guitar &
vocals) & Russell Batiste (drums & background vocals) started playing together in March 2007. The trio has been performing every Sunday at a local New Orleans nightclub, the Maple Leaf Bar. The combination of the soulful vocals of Walter with the big sound of the Hammond B-3 (which Joe also plays all of the bass parts on the B-3) and the masterful drumming skills of Russell Batiste Jr. has developed it’s own unique sound.

On Thursday, April 7th, we will be over at Brooklyn Bowl opening for the one and only Rebirth Brass Band! We’ve got the same great crew from the Sullivan Hall show: Joe Scatassa (Sousaphone), Matt Iselin (Keys / Vocals), Seth Moutal (Drums / Perc), Justin Flynn (Tenor Sax), Jason Wiseman (Trumpet) and Rafi Malkiel (Trombone). Come and join us for this amazing show!

Thanks to everyone who made it out to the NOLA Funk party out at Sullivan Hall on Tues!  We had a blast and were excited to share the stage with Glen David Andrews Band, who closed the night with a killer show. Also thanks to DJ Cochon de Lait for spinning some fantastic New Orleans grooves between sets.  Stay tuned for some info on our next show at Brooklyn Bowl!

Come on down and celebrate Mardi Gras in NYC with the Outer Borough Brass Band! Including Afroskull crew: Joe Scatassa (Sousaphone), Scott Bourgeois, Jeff Pierce, and Matt Iselin along with trombonist Mark Miller and drummer Dave Berger. This is our inaugural show and we’ll be playing an all Mardi Gras brass band set. Get there early for Mad Larry (feat. former members of the Bogmen) The party starts at 7:30pm.
